Itinerary

Day 1: A Mountain Sanctuary | 1 Night

Welcome to Tanzania, on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transfer to Rivertrees Country Inn, a restored farm house on the outskirts of Arusha, a perfect beginning to your Africa adventure. Check into your cottage set along the river under the cover of trees right on the foothills of Mount Meru, settle in as relax on your private terrace before the delicious dinner as you look forward to begin your safari.

Days 2 - 3: Tarangire Under Canvas | 2 Nights

Breakfast and collect your packed lunches before setting off to Tarangire National Park, your next destination. Your home for the next two days will be Oliver’s Camp – a small camp hidden in a secluded part of the park that is least visited.

Set in the midst of a wetland and with the best views, the camp offers the best game viewing right from the comfort of your tent. Head out on morning and afternoon game drives in search of the big 5 in the Tarangire National Park.

The best game viewing in Tarangire is during the dry mid-year season , when large herds of elephant and plain game concentrate on the Tarangire River , the park is also me to predators so prepare for some action. Later return to the camp, to your en-suite tent with an indoor and outdoor bathroom and sit back to watch the wildlife is the frequent the waterhole for a drink and to shelter from the heat.

Days 4 - 5: The Ngorongoro Crater | 2 Nights

Breakfast and wed head north towards the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation area, arrive at Gibbs Farm, a working coffee and dairy farm with your luxurious cottage tucked in the green gardens of the farm.

Get ready to explore the Ngorongoro Crater and other activities such as treatments and massages in the hotels spa. Gibbs farm is a warm and friendly place.

The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, within which some 25000 animals make a home, head out on a full day safari and look out for the Big 5 lions, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo, explore the swamps for snorting hippos, the open plains for roving spotted hyenas and large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is not unusual to see the whole of the Big 5 in one single game drive.

Days 6 - 8: Onto the Serengeti Plains | 3 Nights

Breakfast at Gibbs Farm and transfer to Manyara Airstrip to take your flight to Serengeti, arrive at Ubuntu Migration Camp, your home for the next 3 days as you explore the wonders of the Serengeti , the camo is set under thorn trees and changes to the best location to follow the migration according to the time of the year.

Depending on the time of the year, catch the Wildebeest birthing season in February on the plains of Ndutu, the best time for the big cats as they take advantage to enjoy an easy kill, or as the herds move to cross crocodile infested rivers of the Serengeti in mid-year in search of the fresh green grasses after the rainy season.

Take early morning tea, coffee or hot chocolate brought to your tent and depart for early morning game drives, lunch at the camp, afternoon game drives ending the day with fireside chats and 3 courses suppers, before taking to your comfortable tents, with its own bathroom and hot water bucket showers for a rest as you look forward to another day in the African wild.

Day 9: Time to Depart Tanzania

Breakfast and a last game drive en-route to the Serengeti South Airstrip to take your scheduled flight back to Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport. Arrive Arusha around mid-day to continue with your onward safari arrangements.
