Itinerary
Day 1: The adventure begins | 1 Night
Welcome to Nairobi and begin your safari right away, you will be met by your guide and transfer to the Nairobi Tented Camp, the only camp and accommodation in the Nairobi National Park.
You may have to convince people that you are not just a stone throw away from hum and bustling of Kenya’s capital city Nairobi, the change from city to wilderness is instant, with an out of Africa under canvas experience just minutes from the capital, the city and its skyscrapers provide the best contract photos with wildlife in the foreground and city skyscrapers in the background.
This is journeys of a lifetime begin, the Nairobi Tented Camp opens up to the surprises to come ahead on your African safari, take traditional game in the company of expert and experienced guides, and visit the nearby attractions such as the Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center.
Days 2 - 3: Explore game-rich Amboseli | 2 Nights
It’s time to say goodbye to the Nairobi National Park, drive south to the Selenkay Conservancy , where you will spend the next two days at the Porini Amboseli Camp with magnificent views of the highest standing mountain in the world , Mount Kilimanjaro. Porini Amboseli Camp has only 9 specious tents, ensuring you get a personalized experience both at camp and for game drives.
The Selenkay Conservancy maintains a maximum of 18 visitors for days, in more than 40,000 acres of pristine wilderness. The animals are not accustomed to vehicles and the impact on the environment is minimal, this is your private wildlife experience.
Selenkay’s minimal impact to the environment has paid off, the number of wildlife has increased significantly, head out for a game drive with your expert guides in search of animals, like elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and striped hyena to jackal, giraffe, warthog and zebra. Bird watchers will not be disappointed, with abundant birdlife including birds of prey.
Your day will begin with a sumptuous breakfast before reuniting with your guide and heading to the Amboseli National Park , explore the swamps and wooded forest for the big cats and plain game , before heading to the view point , a scenic place for a picnic lunch, after lunch comb the remaining woods for wildlife as you head back to the camp, arrive with a dip in the pool , and after walk into the nearby Maasai village for some song and dance as you learn more about the Maasai culture.
The afternoon, with the heat of the day high, take a short rest and as the sun sets, set off for an evening game drive, after enjoy a sundowner at a scenic spot as the sun disappears in the horizon, the Mountain Kilimanjaro revealing its more majestic side.
Later as it gets dark return to the camp with a night game drives en-route, animals to look out for in the dark include aardvarks, bush babies and serval cats – or the occasional rare sighting of a leopard on the prowl in the dark. Return to the camp for dinner and later sip drinks around a campfire as you share stories of the day beneath the star studded African night.
Days 4 - 5: Ol Pejeta. See rhinos and chimps | 2 Nights
Breakfast and a game drive en route to the airstrip to take the flight Nanyuki on the foothills of Mount Kenya, on arrival you will be met by your guide and transfer to Porini Rhino Camp, in Ol Pajeta. The Ol Pajeta Conservancy is a haven for endangered species such as the rare black rhino and also has a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. Here you will find the big 5, including other northern specials such as the Grevy zebra.
Spend the next two days enjoying game drives and learning more about the wonder conservation efforts at the Ol Pajeta Conservancy, visit the information center to meet Baraka the local resident blind rhino, spend the evening round camp fires sharing the interesting stories of the African wild.
Meals are gourmet, prepared from fresh ingredients by your chef, served under the African sun or night sky, with the distance roars of lions as the backdrop, later retire to your spacious tent and comfortable bed for the overnight.
Days 6 - 7: Maasai Mara - Search for Africa's big cats | 2 Nights
Say goodbye to the imposing Mount Kenya area, as you head out to the airstrip to take your flight to the Masai Mara, as you fly over the green Kenyan highlands you will notice the mountains and hills unfold into flat savannah, arrive in the Mara met by your guide and transfer to Porini Lion Camp, your safari home for the next two nights.
Located on the Olare Orik Conservancy, an 8000 hectare of pristine wilderness, Porini Lion Camp is the best base for an unforgettable Mara experience. The area is renowned for its large concentration of lions. The camp is set on the banks of the Ntiakatiak River with 360 views of the endless plains of the Mara. Settle in your tent keep a heart out for the sound of roaring lions of hippos splashing in the nearby river in noisy play.
Olare Orok Conservancy offers all year game viewing experience just as the adjacent Maasai Mara reserve, the plains are always full of abundant wildlife, and during the months July to October play host to one of the wonders of the world, the wildebeest migration, look out for predators such as leopards, lions and cheetah, not forgetting the wild dogs and jackals.
Top the day off with a sundowner and later as you head to camp a night game drive, your guide will use a spot light to find the elusive nocturnal animals, later enjoy a well-deserved 3 course dinner before retiring for the night.
Day 8: Farewell to Kenya
Enjoy a morning game drive before returning to the camp for breakfast, after breakfast transfer to the airstrip to take your flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, carrying the wonderful moments and memories of your African safari.
