Itinerary

Welcome to Nairobi, after completing the customs requirements a Saruni camp guide will be waiting to transfer you to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for the flight to Samburu, where you will spend the next 3 nights at the luxury Samburu Saruni. Samburu, Saruni offers spacious and open accommodation with spectacular views of the Kalama Community Wildlife Conservancy, and on clear days you may be able to see Mount Kenya.

Kalama conservancy is located in an important migratory corridor for elephants, Samburu Saruni is the only lodge in the conservancy offering more than 800 square kilometers for pristine wilderness teeming with wildlife for you to explore. The area also has wildlife that can only be found here, these include the gerenuk “the antelope giraffe” that is long necked and can go for days without water. In order to feed it stands on its hind legs minutes at a time nibbling on fresh leaves.

Saruni Samburu is composed of six family villas; each offers two spare en-suite rooms joined by a spacious sitting area which opens up to a private veranda. Each of the villas has an outdoor shower, for the hot afternoons, and an inside bath, a fireplace for the cold Samburu nights. The lodge has two infinity pulls with views to the open Samburu wilderness. While at Samburu Saruni you can also enjoy massage treatment at the Samburu Wellbeing space.

During your stay take a game drive through the conservancy and also to the Samburu National Park, to discover the Samburu 5 which include the Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, Gerenuk, Grevy zebra and the reticulated giraffe, only found here and nowhere else. Take a guided bush walk with your Samburu warriors or visit the Kitilmany Samburu village to learn more about the colorful culture of the Samburu people. Night game drives the Kalama Conservancy are uniquely special offering to the opportunity to see nocturnal animals.

Other interesting things to see at Samburu Saruni include the rock art caves, the warrior academy also offers many child friendly activities such as bush skills and animals tracking – for the adventurous you can trek up Mount Ololokwe, the sacred mountain of the Samburu people, or enjoy a scenic flight in helicopter or biplane to Mount Kenya or Lake Turkana.

Breakfast in Samburu and later take the morning flight to Maasai Mara. On arrival you will be met by Saruni Mara guide and transfer to your lodge. Saruni Mara is located in the Mara North Conservancy, and has just five luxurious cottages, a family villa and a private villa.

The natural history suite at Samburu Saruni is the best for families, it has two en-suite rooms and a common area with a library with a selection of books on wildlife, and Africa to learn more about the bird trees and animals.

While at Saruni Mara there will be no dull moment the lodge offers a wild range of activities both for the young and the old, enjoy morning, evening, and night game drives in the Mara North Conservancy renowned for its large concentration of big cats. Go on a game drive to the Maasai Mara National Reserves towards the Mara River to see the great migration, enjoy bird watching and nature walks accompanied by Maasai warrior guide knowledgeable in bush skills, take hikes to Kilelioni the highest peak in the Mara Serengeti eco system, or visit a Maasai village and market to learn about the Maasai people and culture, take a balloon safari over the Mara, the highlight of an African safari and complete with a champagne breakfast. While at the lodge enjoy sundowners and bush dinners including massage treatments at the Masai Wellbeing Space.

Before your departure from the Maasai Mara visit the rhino sanctuary, en-route to the airstrip, later catch your flight back to Nairobi, on arrival in Nairobi met and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta international airport to take your flight back home.
