Itinerary

Days 1 - 4: Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda | 3 Nights

After your arrival in Kigali, embark on a 3-hour road transfer to the edge of Volcanoes National Park. Your home for the next three nights is at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, ready for gorilla trekking. The lodge set in the foothill of the Virungas has majestic views of the dormant volcanoes and surrounding countryside. Guest suites are spacious, ranch-chic cottages and the main lodge offers a beautiful communal space.

Your itinerary includes 3 gorilla treks while on stay. It includes qualified rangers to take you to the Virungas to see Rwanda’s rare mountain gorillas. Since these highly endangered creatures do not breed in captivity, encountering a silverback gorilla and his family in the wild is one of the most poignant and thrilling wildlife experiences in the world.

Days 4 - 5: Serena Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda | 1 Night

Back to Rwanda for an overnight at the popular Kigali Serena Hotel. A day spent relaxing with optional activities including going swimming in the pool, indulging in spa treatments or or going curio shopping at Caplaki Handicrafts Co-operation.

Days 5 - 8: Under Canvas Mobile Camp in the Serengeti, Tanzania | 4 Nights

Take your flight to Serengeti and on arrival transfer to your camp – Serengeti Under Canvas, a semi permanent mobile camp that that follows the Great Wildebeest Migration. The camps have only nine tents, and feature private butlers, comfortable beds, hot bucket showers and flush toilets. It is an ideal balance between creature comforts and an authentic safari experience.

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives to see the superb resident wildlife and big cat sightings. Depending on the location (which depends on the time of year), game viewing highlights can include the Grumeti or Mara River crossings or the mass calving of wildebeest. Depending on the location of the camp when you travel, pre-book a recommended day tour to either Lake Victoria (if in the Grumeti region) or Olduvai Gorge (if in Ndutu).

Days 8 - 12: Tropical Retreat at the Baraza Resort and Spa | 5 Nights

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for a chartered flight to Meru National Park. Take the short charter flight from Ol Pajeta to Meru National Park, where you will stay at the Rhio River Camp. The camp is located on a private conservancy just on the edge of the national park with luxury cottages that overlooks the Kindani River.

While at Rhino River Camp indulge yourself with activities including game drive, bush walks and go out in search of the big five – in Elsa’s land including hippopotamus, cheetahs and also the rich bird life that includes more than 300 bird species.
